Static electricity is often confused with the induced voltage from a lightning strike. If u are near and touching metal like a wire the magnetic lines of force will cut across the wire inducing a good voltage and could be dangerous. Many think they have been hit by the lightning but it is not true. In a storm stay away from all metallic material ,plumbing ,telephone , and very closet to a TV.
