Try a re-install of the software. I've had similar problems with another HP printer now & then and that seems to sort it.

need to finish question usually is because there is no driver in your computer (or not properly installed) or there is an error message and usually tells what the problem is

you might try deleting the printer program from your computer, and reinstalling it from the CD. It isn't connecting some where either its the driver or your connections.
