I feel for ya, I am only 8 months along and i am tired of being preggers! You can try castor oil, http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/castorOil.html . Also nipple stimulation has been shown to produce oxytocin (the same horemone they give to induce labor), so has semen. So drink a tbs or so of castor oil and have some good sex w/ lots of foreplay...Hope that does the trick.

Average first pregnancies are 41 weeks 1 day; average pregnancies with prior births are 40 weeks 3 days...Sound like you are close!!! How exciting!!!

***Try walking, you can cruise the mall or your favorite park or anywhere else that keeps you walking: the zoo, the gym etc. ***Raspberry leaf tea is also good, it makes your uterus stronger which gives you more efficient contractions in theory shortening labor!!! Try it cold, like ice tea with sugar!! Hot is kind of gross!
***Nipple stimulation and sex is also said to bring on labor!!! Because when you are sexually stimulated you are producing the same hormones that start labor!!!
***Some say spicy or greasy foods, but that might just make you uncomfortable, and I don't really know how well it works to induce labor.

A good book to read is:
The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer!
Lots of great, easy to understand info, including things your doctor never told you!!! Well I wish you luck! And congrats a head of time!

PS Castor Oil is a laxative and only sometimes effective at starting labor!!! Not only will it make you need to use the restroom it will probably make you sick!!! And it can make your baby pass meconium (poop) into your uterus, it can hurt the baby it the baby breathes it in during labor & delivery!!! Personally I would not try it…It doesn’t always start labor but will make you sick!

I feel for you..
I think that millions of women have experienced what you are going through right now..
I'd be careful with the massage therapy, i had a massage and had my girl 6 weeks early!
I herd that Castor oil works, but, you want to make sure that you are really close to being due befor you do something like that..
You don't need to have a premature baby..
Maybe ask your Dr. for some advise, and I'll tell you, after the birth, make sure you have a good nap in the hospital befor you go home!!
You might not get to much time to rest after :)
Good luck to you..
It'll be over befor you know it!!

sex, walking, massaging your breasts/nipples are what I always heard. You can always get induced, or if you can, sleep.. because most likely your baby is coming soon and if labor starts you may go a few days without sleep and then have to deal with a crying baby...i mean the baby is nice but the lack of sleep isnt so try to sleep through the rest of the pregnancy =)

Oh yeah...trust me I KNOW!!!! I was pregnant with twins and the size of a full term pregnant woman at 20 something weeks! It sucks! Just know that your baby is getting more healthy every day its inside of you! But if you are term...tricks to starting labor..taking a very very long walk( i know a pain in the butt when you hurt all over) have sex..(orgasm might stimulate labor) or have your man..(or if all else fails..do it yourself) play with your nipples..again it stimulates labor. But if you think you are tired now...wait till baby comes..you dont know what tired is!

You can start by walking up and down stairs or just going for a long walk. You need to keep your body moving. When i was 9 months and just a few days away from my due date i went to the state fair and walked all day and sure enough i got some contrctions. Good luck

I tried it all...bumpy car rides, walking, prim rose oil, spicy food, sex, begging for mercy...i end up being induced on my due date. None of those tricks worked at all...cause some contractions, none big enough to start labor though. You can try caster oil to ....but trust me if you're nine months the last thing you want is to be on the potty even more than you are!

Go for a bumpy car ride...I always heard that helps. Try to relax and rest and you will be fine. And remember, your body will know how to birth the baby and when the time comes you will find energy you never knew you had!

Also, my doc told me that having sex can help move it along. There's something in the semen that helps get things rolling. Odd, but true!

Good luck!

I read something about going to a massage therapist, they can massage your pressure points, which I guess is supposed to help bring on labor, but it doesn't work with everyone. I'd give it a try, even if it doesn't work, wouldn't the massage be worth it before the baby comes?!

YOu should have sex or have your parnter ejaculate inside of you. Semen contains a hormone that will make your uterus contract. When I was 39 weeks I had sex and had my baby the next day. Don't bother walking around. It doesn't work and you'll just get more tired. My doctor told me so. But I would try sex! Worked for me!
