While trying to watch a music video, I inadvertantly downloaded some evil program that has added itself to my registry and redirects my internet-- sometimes to graphic sites that don't belong on my families computer. It's maddening! They pop up constantly, despite massive virus protection and firewalls. To have someone come out will cost over $100.00. I know I can do it myself, I just need someone to tell me how! I can't decipher what or where it is in the registry. Please help! Thanks for reading...

First, boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key when starting up. Then run your anti-virus program to do a complete scan of the computer after making sure the virus definitions are up to date. While still in Safe Mode, go to "Add/Remove Programs" in the control panel and try to remove the program that's causing the problem. Once that's done, start up in regular Windows mode, and go to the below link to download a program called "Advanced Windows Care Personal". It's available as a free version and works really well to remove registry entries that aren't valid anymore. It also clears up a LOT of other glitches on your pc. Hopefully the above will get your pc back running correctly. Hope this helps.

Very simple! Do a system restore to a point before you installed that program.

Click Start, go to programs, go to accessories, then go to system tools. It may be in another location. Just look for "System Restore."

System Restore remembers the state of your comptuer at certain "restore points" and you can restore the state of your computer to any one of these points. It's very helpful. I suggest you make new restore points before you install programs.
