my daughter is 13 and she's starting to get attention from boys, you know. So, today after school this boy comes and knocks on my door and asks if she's home. I'm a little shocked and bothered because she's still my "baby".
Anyway, she comes to the door and says: "I'm sorry, Randall but I can't play with you today I have homework and things to do so maybe tomorrow. Then she pauses and says" ...actually Randall. I can't play with you tomorrow either...actually Randall...I don't like you very much so I just don't think I'll be playing with you at all!" and she shut the door in his face!
I was smiling inside the whole time I was lecturing her about how it's not nice to treat people that way.
I knew then, as a mom my work was done and once she masters the art "tact" she'll be able to handle herself as the young woman she's becoming.
Thanks for letting me share my smile:)

Well I would have to say many things made me smile today. Someone gave me a very nice compliment, I got lots of things done today and I had a good sleep. These were the highlights of my wonderful happy days.

My neighbor from Hell, tripping over and head-butting the car that was taking her on her driving lesson. She's had 2 a week for the past 2 and a half years. If she can't walk straight, not much hope of her driving

Watching the dogs play. I manage a no-kill shelter. They had so much fun, their mouths wide open in huge, goofy smiles. One would chase the other, then the other would turn around and chase the first one. They were so happy!

Thinking about how crazy I must be to jump 3 people at once, all over a little piece of paper that I didn't want anyone to read. That was hilarious.
