Boiling at a very high temperature kills any bacteria that could be lingering around that could cause very serious stomach problems and not to mention other illness for your baby. People commonly don't boil water bottles because the high temperature would melt the bottle so people just commonly wash it out really good.

Its to protect the baby from any germs and such that might be on the bottle but I never did that I just threw them in the dishwasher or if you dont have one a good washing before using either way does the same trick. My daughter was never sick I might add aside from the occasional cold.

I just put my son's bottles in the dishwasher, and they did very nicely. I suppose I think of it in terms of being a substitute for breast feeding, and certainly a breast is not sterile, so why would a bottle need to be? I think the cleanliness of a dishwasher that has used adequate hot water and detergent should be perfectly ok.

It kills all the bacteria in them. Kids now a days seem to have more and more health problems. And I think it's due to things that are NOT disinfected properly.

I read something when my daughter was a newborn, that there is no need to boil bottles anymore, but to wash them in hot soapy water is just fine. I always sterilized everything the first time I used it then just washed it there after.
