liked, definitely. it takes real leadership to work cooperatively and build lasting results.

i am assuming you mean feared instead of reared.
A leader should be liked not feared. If you are liked as a leader, you will be respected and followed. In order to be respected as a leader you have to respect the individuals you are leading.
Fear is a tactic used when people do not think that their credentials or abilities as a leader are not good enough to be respected and followed by his/her subjects. If you lead by inducing fear in your subjects you will always be in fear that one day one of them will sabotage you or try to take your place. And for good reason because you haven't convinced your followers that you are good enough to be their leader. By the way ability to induce fear is not a leadership quality
