I gave my children Rice Cereal when they drank an 8 ounce bottle and were still hungry two hours later. If I waited until 4-6 months my babies would have been starving, and very crabby. I think that not all babies can wait that long. Mine ate early and are all healthy. My first ate it at three months, second at two months, and third at about six weeks. It depends more on the child's needs than the age. As for the juice I gave it at two months.

Most infants do not require the addition of solid foods until between 4 and 6 months of age; in fact many infants will be content for the entire 1 st 6 months of life on formula or breast milk alone. If your infant is not content with 35 ounces or less of formula per 24 hours or seems to be hungry even after breast feeds, it may be time to introduce baby food. I recommend starting with plain rice cereal which can be mixed with either breast milk, formula or baby apple juice. Begin with about 2 tablespoons dry and mix until the consistency of applesauce. Your 4 month or older infant can learn to take it with a spoon at this age; however during the first few days as your infant learns to push food back with their tongue, often more “comes back out” then goes down. They usually get the hang of it in 3-4 days. Offer the cereal once or twice a day. I would say about a year for the juice and dilute with water.

If I can remember correctly, I believe that you can start cereal, mixed w/formula in a bowl, not in a bottle around 3 or 4 months. Juice is around 6 months, and you'll only want to give them the baby juice, like Gerber to start them, up to 4 oz. a day.

I started my baby on rice cereal at 5 months then gradually introduced other solids from 6 months. He started drinking juice from about 10 months. Every baby has different needs, so when they start on solids/juice is different for each baby. Ask your doctor/child nurse, they will be able to advise what they think will be best for your baby.

That is a question best answered by the baby's doctor. Answers range from 4-6 months (typically for solids). What I have found is that you start feeding the cereal when the baby is no longer content with only milk. both of my children started eating cereal at about 2 1/2 months..

You can start cereal around 4-6 months. Try giving her a few small thinned out spoons of rice cereal. If she swallows it without spitting it out, she is ready for solids. If you give her juice, buy the kind meant for babies.

Juice is not really necessary and is definately not recommended until 6 months (and even then it should be watered down). Cereal can be started between 4 and 6 months, but check with your pediatrician for advice on your specific child.

You should start cereal at 4 months. Why not hold off on juice as long as possible? Formula/breastmilk is much healthier for them. Juice is really not very nutritious and is full of sugar.
