My Laptop keeps overheating after a few hours of being on. I want to know an easier way to keep it cool without having to spend any money or having to shut it down for hours.

laptops are notorious for this. I bought a cooling pad for mine..But before I did I used a small straight stick under the back of my laptop to raise it up off of the surface I was setting the laptop on..If you are using it on your lap then open your legs so that the computer can breathe. If you are using the power cord take the battery out. You need to get air under there. Never lay your laptop on a pillow or a bed.. There is a fan under there don't block it up ...

If it is overheating, try investing in a cool pack that you put underneath your laptop to keep it from getting too hot (and burning your lap!) Also, make sure you use your laptop on a flat, hard surface. Things like beds and rugs block the fans from functioning like they should.

How do you know over heating is the issue? Ive had a similar problem with my laptop where it would work for awhile then all the sudden turn off.. the issue was not over heating but the hard drive was going bad. Laptops do get really hot though, so dont be alarmed if it just feels really hot.
