Why do people who like rap hate people who like rock and vice versa?

I love both
My brother shows me both rap and classic rock
Maybe because all people who like rock see the media showing poser gangsters getting shot or jumped
and people who like rap see a bunch of crazy maniacs shaking their long hair over their guitar.
They don't know that all rock groups aren't like that
and same for people who like rock ,they don't know about underground rappers who rap about the samethings that classic rock bands sing about

I love rock and roll,I grew up in the 80's and I like RUN-DMC,Grandmaster Flash and the furious five,Tone-Loc,NWA,Dr.Dre,Snoop Dog,and some Eminem.

I must have become old because as soon as P Ditty,Biggie and everything else basically that came after him......Rap/hip-hop turned pop and was unoriginal. I cant stand the new crap. Maybe its just me!!

i like both. i don't like most commercial mainstream rap right now. too much about "bein a gangsta", getting laid, and money. its just played out. i'd have to say that that is what a lot of people don't like about rap, but thats not all that its about. check out quasimoto or del the funky homsapien. i do have to say that i am kinda tired of some of this emo rock. some of it isn't even called that, but it is if you look at their lyrics. i luv nirvana, red hot chili peppers, breaking benjamin, and especially linkin park (WHEN WILL THEY RELEASE A NEW ALBUM?!!! AHHH!!!)
