A person walks into a room that has, on opposite walls, two flat mirrors producing multiple images. When the person in 5ft from the mirror on the left wall and 10ft from the mirror on the right wall, find the distances from the person to the first three images seen in the left-hand mirror.

Draw a picture...I did. ;-)

The light resulting in the first image will travel 5' to the left mirror and 5' back to your eye...total 10'.

The light resulting in the second image will travel 10' to the right mirror, 15' to the left mirror and 5' back to your eye...total 30'.

The light resulting in the third image will travel 5' to the left mirror, 15' to the right mirror, 15' to the left mirror again and then 5' back to your eye...total 40'.
