Be realistic in your choice of schools. Many major D-1 programs want to see a tape before they'll even let you walk on. That may sound cruel or unfair, but it is intended to save time for the coaching staff, and to protect people who might get severely injured playing with such high caliber athletes.
Decide where you want to go, and then find out what their walk-on policy is. In the meantime, make sure you get in the best shape possible. Push yourself, because coaches aren't going to focus much of their energy on motivating you at team workouts. Scholarship players get more attention, since the university has made a financial investment in developing them as players.
Last, but definitely not least, make sure you can academically qualify. If you haven't yet taken the SAT or ACT, or if you are unhappy with your score, by all means register for one of the two as soon as you can. Make sure that you meet the admissions requirements for incoming freshman. If you lack any classes, find out what can be done to make those classes up.
Keep in mind that some players go to Junior Colleges first. As you will not be starting with a football scholarship, the lower cost of attending Junior College is a definite advantage. Major D-1 programs do recruit players from JuCo, particularly if they want a developed player to fill an urgent need. Reggie Nelson did not have the grades to get into the University of Florida as a freshman. He played two years of JuCo football, transferred to UF as a Junior, and is now poised to become a first round pick in the NFL draft.
Come up with a plan, and then work like hell to make it a reality. Good Luck!

Well, you'll have to try out for the college you are planning to attend...Try to contact the coach there and find out when tryouts for football will be...
Unless you have obvious athletic ability, and because you didn't play at all in HS, don't go in there thinking you can just be a star player with not playing in the past 4 years...It takes practice...Even NFL players are rusty when they don't practice...
However, you could be considered on defense, as you indicated you were a DE in junior high...Actually, a coach would be happy about your size...Thats not too big in college...assuming you can move around, get to the ball, etc...College defenses are pretty big...
You will have to start out as a walk-on for sure...If you prove to be good at playing football in practice, you may be awarded a football scholarship...

Try out and give it your all to impress the coach.Even if you have to work your way up from the practice squad. You have great size for a freshman player. You'll need to put on even more weight and muscle to play De in college though.Just do your best and hopefully you'll make it.Good luck.

Wow female! You specific are a tricky cookie.i be attentive to, you're in simple terms sixteen and the pressures are severe. yet once you are able to in simple terms carry on that l'il string, pull your self up and complete your guidance, you will possibly haev empowered your self. you notice, you're able to be great-sturdy at something, however the darn international won't be attentive to. With a level in hand, you are able to carve your way into some sturdy place (or, flow do your guy or woman stuff). Then, whilst people be attentive to of your qualification, they are going to be extra receptive to you. and since the years bypass, you are able to instruct the international who you extremely are. i choose to propose you're taking ten minutes off, each and on a daily basis, detect a helpful corner the place no person will worry you, and deep breath. See the way you decide on your existence to be and sense it in info, each and each say. quickly, you would be witnessing the miracle of God. you're meant to do something great babe, so carry on and ROCK THE instruct! GOd Bless You!

You'd have to go to a college and try out. As far as being a DE, you are probably not big enough height wise and could probably gain a few pounds. GOOD LUCK
