I have to do this paper on like website address symbols, like .edu etc. but i am having a diffucult time figuring out what % and ~ mean. Thanks.

% is used to specify codes for certain characters...

i.e. a white space: " " = %20

~ is used to specify which user's directory you want to browse...

Sometimes a % can be used as a wildcard when doing certain searchs that allow them.
