John Wyndhams chocky?
The one where the little boy is possessed by an alien being. The being talks to the child in his head and he relates what it says to his dad who think he has gone mad. You never see chocky but she helps the little boy to do things and he seems to have skills he didnt learn from anyone for instance suddenly doing his maths homework in binary numbers.
That was a strange thing to have on kids TV but it is a really excellent book.

"Chucky" was a horror film!

There was a children's show called "Chocablock" but it was not scary!!! It had a robot in it with a robotic voice (!) but my kids used to love it!! It was an educational type programme.

Used to be on at midday and possibly in the 1980's era. Chockabloke was played by Fred Harris and Chockagirl by Carol Leader both of whom were former Playschool presenters. The catchphrase was "Chockagirl(bloke) Checking Out" with the presenter riding off on a colourful car (like a mini moke)!!

I think Carol Leader was the original receptionist in Casualty too!

'Pied Piper' sinister looking bloke in doublet and hose introducing a talking rat and a hamster. Theme song "Come with me! Come and see, all the wonders there may be!"

Truly terrifying

Also 'The Owl Service' but on purpose this time

I suppose the answer to this one lies in a persons age as an example my wife was known to hide behind the furniture during the first series of Dr.Who the mere sight of a Dalek terrified her.
