Catching a bus. I live in Chicago and let me tell you, our transit system is pitiful. There are mornings I stand at the bus stop for 30min waiting for the bus ( and lets not forget it has been below 0 the past month or so ) When I get to the bus stop and can actually SEE the bus coming, I want to do a little dance, it starts the day off on a happy note!

A warm summer’s rain, A loved one’s touch
A red rose with a bright new morn’s dew
That sparkles in the sun. It’s not much
Just a simple thing that’s bright and new.
Simple things that gives witness to life
Little things that make you more aware
Not those that one sees because they are rife
But those that appear so small and so rare.
A quiet moment spent in somber silence
Bereft of any meaning to another being
Just bathing in creation’s benevolence
To see and hear the wonder of just being
Small insignificances that shout out their need
To be appreciated for what they are and no more
Simple things that fill the void with a small deed
And now there is what was needed and nothing more.

I'm sorry, I can't name just one thing. Where do I start?
People who ask nice questions like this one.
My husband's arms around me. ♥
When my husband and I laugh so hard our sides hurt and tears start rolling down our faces.
My cat in the morning when he kisses me on the nose or chin.
Early morning just as the sun is rising and it looks like the world is still sleeping.
Song birds.
Watching large snowflakes silently fall during a moonlit night.
Certain soft music.
Children playing and giggling.
Puppies or kittens playing.
That's just the beginning of what puts a smile on my face. :-)

A hug on a bad day.
A hug on a good day.
Flowers.
Feeling loved.
Going home at the end of the day and feeling good about the work I have done.

watching my ferret do just about anything. she's so animated, not to mention cute! i have to smile. until she steals my toothbrush and hides it under the entertainment center. or smuggles dog food into the bottom drawer of my dresser. aw, who am i kidding? she's even cute when she does that stuff! ten minutes of watching her run through the house flipping out is a sure-fire way to bring me a bit of happiness.
i love you, mrs. garret, my little rat-monkey!

I have a 18 month old grandson. When he hugs me, his little hand gently pats my shoulder for a few seconds. His tenderness and love gives me joy & happiness that I can't even put in to words.

A smile from this particular girl's face.
My pug puppy jumping around excitedly after I get home from work.
And my lucky tie (I named it "The Gambler" because it is decorated like the back of a card deck).
