I've used Jungle Formula everywhere I have been and it's been brilliant. I was in Kenya last year and I didn't get one bite! It does smell foul when you first put it on though........ (But it is over 50% DEET) Also I was recommended to take Vitamin B tablets a couple of weeks before you go as they do not like the way it makes your blood taste. This seemed to work for me. I am incredibly prone to bites (Antigua was one of the worst places for really painful huge bites) and Jungle Formula seemed to be the only one. You can get it almost everywhere. But remember, mossies are worst at dusk and you should protect your ankles as well as that is where I tend to get bitten worse. Also look up information on where you are going. In the mountains in Australia there were nasty mossies, the sand fly in Antigua is pretty horrible too. Also I bought a 'clicker' as well, you can get them from Boots. When you have been bitten, put the clicker on the bite and press it a couple of times, it sends a very small shock (just a tingle) into the bite and stops it itching for hours. Highly recommend that one!

There are indeed 100% deet sprays (actually 95-99%). They generally come in much smaller spray bottles and require only a tiny amount, but are extrememly potent. I do lots of fishing and hiking in mosquito-ridden areas, and nothing beats these products. I've used both Repel and Off in the high-deet content, but there are others that would work just fine.
You can get these at any outdoors store like Gander Mountain or Sportsman's Warehouse.
You do have to be careful with applying too high of a deet content to your skin. It's better to apply it to your shoes, socks, shirt--though I've never had any problems.
If you're going to a pretty tame place bug-wise, try a spray with a lesser deet content, as they are considerably cheaper and somewhat safer I suppose. Have a great time on your vacation!

Avon do an after sun with a mosquito repellent and they also do something called Skin So Soft with is fantastic for keeping the mossies at bay, tip, if you have a sweet tooth then for at least 2 weeks before you go on holiday don't eat anything sugary as its one of the things that attract mossies to you, take non drowsy antihistamines for a couple of weeks before you go too as that helps in keeping them at bay, Asda do a good cheap one, good luck and hope the mossies leave you alone this year.

Honestly, Skin So Soft by Avon. Yeah, no crap! My dad use to go fishing in Canada every year where it was like infested with mosquito's and black flies. He would use Skin So Soft and he would never get bit. I don't have any idea what is in that stuff but it works better than any insect repellent that I have ever used.

The best thing is to take a yeast tablet every day starting about a week before you go then carry on one a day while your on holiday until you come home. It has some thing to do with the yeast coming out in your sweat acting as a replant
Deet is ok but you can over do it & some people it reacts rather nasty.

Brewrers Yeast tablets. They hate the smell. Also if you drink beer not lager it has the same effect.
Keep taking them whislt you are away 1 tab am & pm.
Avon skin so soft also works.
Vitamin B6 or 12 has the same efect.

The other thing that works brilliantly is taking garlic capsules. They can't be the odourless ones, though. You emit garlic through your pores (don't worry, you won't smell to other humans, it's too subtle).

I took garlic capsules and went to the Venezuelan rainforest and did not get bitten once.

Also, remember to wash with plain soap, no perfume and no sweet smelling cosmetics
