Because the world is not the perfect little bubble you are lead to believe it is in movies and crappy TV shows. It is a bitter, jaded and cynical place where people think thier opinions matter and would rather treat each other badly than be accepting and loving towards each other.
People are crap! Bottom line. We are dumb and ignorant but think we are so special and creative. It's BS, we are a virus on this planet and the sooner we get wiped out the better...

It's a matter of different Realities and Agreements. People always state they agree on this and that (PR attitude), but in reality they don't!
Threre are two tone levels: 1) the chronic, where all act properly for a living, and 2) the real one, displayed where people are at ease or at home!
So, unless you know how to find out one's real tone level, you will be asking the same question for life!

Because humans are all evil; evil spelled backwards is live, lived is devil. It's also proved daily. People are selfish and always deal with a personal interest to get some thing from others. There's a lot of disappointment in that, so things go wrong.

Because their are some people who LOVE LOVE LOVE drama too much and they inflict it on others. They are bored, lonely or just bitter and they are attention seekers and want to find groupies who will go along with everything they say and do.
