Well, the very first and most important thing you need to know is that you really need to develop a great skin care program. (Mary Kay has a fabulous one that will give you the GLOW you are looking for.) There are 5 steps to good skin care (you can accomplish it in just 3 w/ Mary Kay). 1) Cleanse 2) Exfoliate 3) Freshen 4) Moisturize 5) Protect.

The protect step is actually done with a foundation. Many people think that foundation is used to cover up blemishes and what not, but it is actually used to keep all the vitamins in and (acts as a shield) to keep the environmental pollutants out.

Once you have applied you foundation, you want to use a matching loose powder. This will help to set your foundation. Because I don't know what your eye color is, I am going to give you netral colors that look good on everyone.

You should use a shimmery white as a highlighter, which means it goes all over your eye up to the browbone. Then you need a medium to dark brown color to put into the crease. Start on the outside right where lid creases when eyes are open. Then with your brush take it back and forth like a windshield wiper in the crease. If your eyes are deep set or droopy then you will have to pull the crease color up a little closer to browbone (not entirely). On your lid use a shimmery tan color (lighter than crease brown color). Then take your brush and blend 3 colors together...take brush starting on lower outside corner and sweep (lightly) upward. Do this all the way across eyelid.

Now you want a charcoal eyeliner and line your eyes. Line both top and bottom lids. Start on outside corner and go in all the way until your eyelashes stop. You want the liner to be thicker on the outer part...and get much thinner and less noticable as you get closer to inside. If you need to even them out at all you can do that with an eyeliner brush.

Then take a gold eyeshadow color, using eyeliner brush go over the top of liner on the bottom. Thicker on the outside and thinner on the inside. This will give you the "smokey" look. If you want it to be more dramatic then use a black eyeshadow instead of the gold.

Top the eyes off by curling your lashes with an eyelash curler and then apply black mascara. (Be sure to do both top and bottom lashes, this will make your eyes look like a fan.)

For your cheeks. Use a very neutral light (pinkish brownish) color..could even go toward the peachy side. Anyhow, put 2 fingers up to the side of your nose. This is the distance between your nose and where blush starts. Apply in circular motions very lightly.

You could wear a shimmery cream gloss alone or find a neutral lip liner, neutral lip color, and a small amount of gloss in center of lips.

Hope this all makes sense. If you want specific colors for your eye color and application tips for the setting of your eyes, got to http://www.marykay.com and click on their virtual tour! Maybe you can start just with the mascara and eyeliner... The pencil eyeliner. When you are good at applying those you can move to shadows and such. The truth is that eyeliner and mascara are the ones that do the most difference in your looks. They make your eyes stand out and for daily make-up it is usually enough, to enhance your looks. They aren't though to learn, to apply. That would be my advice as a make-up artist... When you master those two, learn and practice eyeshadows and other stuff. Better to be good at one or two things than bad at everything :))

Most good retailers offer a free "makeover" . Go to the counter at a nice department store and someone will teach you how to do make up. Be prepared to spend a few bucks but don't buy it ALL. I've always spent more money on a good moisturizer and foundation. The other stuff is ever changing and you don't need to spend an arm and a leg on it. You can always pick up a new lipstick or mascara for much less at another store.

If you want something really natural buy this stuff:

mascara, light blush, a clear or pinkish lip gloss, and a soft pink eyeshadow! Maybe even a little bit of true match consealer! ( that will help with even skin tone)

If you want something more un-natural buy this stuff:

eye liner, black eye shadow, mascara, so on and so forth!

well do you want long term makeup that will last a long time and be very affective? there is bare minerals. it is amazing. it is the most even tone makeup you could use. it takes a few min to apply and with mascara it just makes you look natural. its not chalky at all and my sisters use is and tell me they feel like nothing is on their face. so you should try it =]

Try using mineral-based makeup if you want something really light for your face. If you don't want to go overboard since you're just starting, just start with something simple. Moisturize your face, put on foundation, bronzer, curl your lashes and put on mascara. It's fast and easy and you'll look great without looking like you tried too hard.

You need to find a foundation that works for your skin. I mean a foundation that does not cause more problems, and is the right shade. You are still young enough to go with minimal coverage. Once you find one that is right for you, practice applying it. I see many, many people who do not put on foundation correctly, and it makes them look worse.

1.cover the lid to browline with a sheer nude color
2. take a bronze color and sweep it over you lid extending a little past the corner of your eye
3.take the same bronze color and use a thin brush and line it on your lower eyelid underneath your eyelashes
4.take black eyeliner and put it on the INSIDE of your rims.(optional)
5. curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler
6. apply 2-3 coats of black mascara

this helps make your eyes look beautiful and exotic

to make your face look a it has a glow, put a foundation that is very close to your skin color and evenly put it on your face with a tissue or a cotton swab. then take a translucent shimmer powder and lighty apply with a powder brush evenly on your face with a sweeping motion.
