Well, first off, I'll assume you mean prescription contacts, not cosmetic.

If you've had a recent eye exam, your optometrist will already know your prescription, so that part won't cost you anything.

The optometrist will have to do a contact lens fitting, this takes about 5 minutes, and most charge around $20 for it.

The contacts themselves vary between $40 and $60 a box, with 6 in each box, but remember, if your eyes are different prescriptions, you may have to purchase two boxes.

Well you will have to go to your eye doctor and get the fitting for your eyes. That cost about $80 for me. Then they have to order your contacts. The cost for that depends on how many you get. I always order enough to last 3 months. It used to be $60 + tax but since has gone up to $80+. That's just what it cost me, it could be different for you.

My sister got hers at Wal Mart. What she did was went in for the contact lens exam, which cost $50 and then they give you 'trial' pair (which are free) This is while you wait for your contacts prescribed for you to come in. She due to issues with the fit had to have three different sets of contact lenses. Still...all for the same $50. Wal Mart Vision Center's has the best customer service and they're just about everywhere.
