It's estimated that 1/3 of Americans aspired to be connected to the entertainment industry. The average salary, according to the US DOL for an actor or actress in this country is only $33, 450.00.
If you think about it that way, there are relatively few Jennifer Anistons and quite a lot of your community thespians who have done some voiceover work or a commercial. To make it big you (or your parents in the case of child actors) must be fiercely competitive, the second part of the equation is getting a good agent. I cannot imagine what it is like to wake up every morning in their shoes and know the path to their doorstep is paved with people willing to do anything to be them. No sympathy for the famous......just a desire to never have to go the Movie Star route.

Hollywood. They all went to hollywood. Most start out in unrelated and unglamorous jobs, until their acting picked up.

well i only know about hilary duff she entered in her school talent contest and won and went to compete somewhere else.
