I got my third lobe piercing done about 3 months ago with a gun, b/c it seemed way cheaper. I applied h20cean & cleaned it for the next month or so.

I decided to try to change my stud one night & everything was going well until I felt this small bump above my piercing. I froze & freaked out for a few minutes before calming down. When I touched it again, the bump moved down under the piercing. I have no clue what it is, but is it possibly a part of my cartilage that got.. 'Broken off'? After putting my earring back on (I had a little difficulty- I think something (maybe the bump?) was blocking it?) the bump was at the bottom of my piercing. It's now on the edge of my ear near the side of the piercing and you can't see it but you could feel it. It's a bump as long as the stud & becomes irritated & red when I touch it too much.

After that I took off my earring only one other time a month later for a ct scan and it was bleeding a little.

I checked it today & there was blood on the back

(cont'd.)

There was blood on the backing of the earring and I'm afraid to take it out b/c I don't want to yank it or anything that would cause more colplications. Right now it's still a silver stud from Claire's.

I don't want to take it out because I doubt that I'd be able to re-pierce it again. C:

Oh, and it hurts when I move the piercing up & sometimes when I spin the piercing. It feels like a sharp pain and as if something is touching it on the top.

All help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time. :D

yes I agree you should see a Doctor...I had the same thing, it was a cyst. Not a big deal, they just basically popped it with a needle, but you don't really want to take any chances with your ear being so close to your brain and all. Was the CT scan of your head??? You should have asked them about it when you were at that doc visit....

Not sure what is going on with your ear, but I have a friend that had her cartilage on her upper ear pierced, she took care of it like they said & kept it clean every day. With in a month she was in the hospital & they took the top 1/3 of her ear off thru surgery. She missed 3 weeks of work and lost almost 1/2 her ear. She did everything like she was suppose to but..... Guess that's the risk. Definetly sounds infected. A trip to the doctor might be needed ASAP.

Sweety, i think you should go c doctor ASAP. your ear is infected, maybe due to sensitive skin to the studs that u use. Get it treated before it gets worse or more complication. for now don't use any earrings or studs. The more holes u pierce in your ear, the high risk of infections & complication u can have, as our ears are a very sensitive skin & important part of our body.

First, I get the bump prob all the time but it shouldn't be serious. But if it is bleeding you may need to see a doctor, and he may say you need to let it grow in and try again at a diff place b/c they may not have sterilized the needle. But don't worry too much just go see a doc.

my best advice is to take out the earring, clean it w/ alcohol and peroxide... let it close and then repeirce... it's probably infected, and leaving the earring on while maintaining it and cleaning probably won't do any good....

Take Care
