Comparisons between U.S and Roman Empire?

I have to write an essay about 1500 words long that is document based. It will compare the United States to the Roman empire. Does anyone know a place I can find any Roman documents online? Or have any ideas?

...Roman documents? Like, translations of Julius Caesars 'De Bello Gallico?' Also! Are you comparing America to the civilization of Rome, or America to the civilization of Rome at the point when it was ruled by emperors?

Here are some points to make.

1) George Washington vs. Cincinnatus
2) Pax Romana vs. Pax Americana
3) Both were, at some point, republics.
4) The Romans "borrowed" about as much from the Etruscans as we have from the British.
5) During the end of the Republic, the times were very similar to modern- abortion rates were high, lasting marriages were less common than "olden times," adultery was considered a high-class social pleasure, the civilization was largely at peace, etc. etc. (Ovid's works, except Metamorphoses, reflect this.)

Those are some good starting points.
