Dormant volcanoes are ones that haven't erupted in a certain number of years. One example is Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii which last erupted 4,500 years ago. Another that is considered dormant is Mt. Rainer in Washington.
Mt. St. Helens is an active volcano. It has current seismic activity, resurgent dome growth, and is producing minor amounts of ash. Yellowstone is also considered active.

There are hundreds.
Edinburgh is built on top of one plug. But that is an extinct volcanoe - one which has stopped erupting, dormant volcanoes erupt rarely, and active volcanoes erupt frequently.
Mount St Helens is a dormant vocano, so is Yellowstone park...
Global warming effects plate tutonics, the earth shrinks to cool down, thus for most of the world's volcanoes, we have no idea of their level of activity. It is possible that many more supposedly dormant volcanoes could be active.
But although scientists can tell when the ground is deforming underneath a volcano, it does not necessarily mean it will erupt.

It's "dormant", and in Washington state, you could count Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker, as well as a number of others.
