I have an oak table and to try and make a long story short, here's the deal. There was hot food on a paper plate in two spots on my table, obviously it was too hot and now my table has two white marks on it. I've tried the heavy duty wax we got when we bought the table but that didn't take it off. Our last resort is to sand the table and refinish it again, but I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before and maybe there is a simple little home remedy that might work.

OK
I had the same thing happen to me. Only it went like this, my mom and I sat down in the living room to eat some rice and hard boiled eggs. When I sat down, I put my egg (still hot) on a pink sticky note, which was on the coffee table, and mixed the tuna fish into my rice. when I picked my egg up(it had cooled down to an eating temp.), I looked under the sticky note, and there was a pink mark on the coffee table!
