way for me to get online is to either bring the modem in my room or go to where the computer is. What other ways (besides going wireless) can i do to be able to hook up online?

You will need to go wireless with a router. If you do then buy a netgear, easy to set up but you still be better off wired. I got a netgear dg834G router and a wireless belkin gaming adapter. Don't buy the microsoft wireless adapter when you can buy the belkin one for half the price. The belkin does take a while to configure but if you need a hand drop me an email. You could maybe get your hands on another modem like the one you have already. Not sure if this will work but if its a usb modem I would have thought you get one off ebay pretty cheap as everyone seems to be going wireless.

there is no other way the only thing you really can do is wireless sorry man
