I haven't the slightest. For some odd reason, Michiganders seem to be wild for the Amish furniture and will pay a lot of money for it. I, personally, can't stand it. I like my furnishings to have nice, clean lines. Modern stuff, not "pa whittled this in between beating children and milking cows" stuff.

I do, however, like to buy my fresh veggies from the Amish in the summer. They tend to be cheaper than Meijer's and since it's locally produced, I'm helping to support the community. I bought from Farmer's Markets in California, so out here, I buy from the Amish. I just won't buy their popsicle stick tables, chairs and bed frames.

Amish people make sturdy furniture, stuff that's going to last many lifetimes. The only problem with it is the furniture is fairly simple and they aren't going to have perfect lines (because they aren't using power tools to build the furniture.) The only way they'll get a straight board is basicaly by splitting it. I think it's gorgeous considering how they have to make it.

lol I live far away from Amish people but I'd heard they make good furniture. But what do I know?

Is it? I always assumed they'd be good at it. I guess its not meant to last? No formal skills taught? Are you sure its not just the one family of inept carpenters?

?? I'd say it's pretty good furniture, considering that they dont use powertools and all.
