I'm playing Eva Jackson in the Rimers of Eldritch and at one point in the play I'm going to run into my mothers arms screaming, but the problem is that I don't know how to scream, could someone please help me, I'm really desperate!

If you have never screamed in your life - (Which is hard to believe. Havn't you ever gone though a haunted house or told scary stories around a campfire?) - anyway - if you've never screamed - then go somewhere where you can scream - and try it. Just imitate other screams you've heard. Eva is kind of whiney - actually - so you might want to do kind of a whiney scream.

Try to make sure that you're not harming your voice every night. Try to get as much of it as you can to come from the diaphram. Support it with your belly. But remember - she's a young girl - so you don't want a big belly booming kind of yell. More screachy or whiney - I would think. If you want a higher sound - drop your jaw.

I'm a huge Lanford Wilson fan - and have been since I did that play about 30 years ago. I was Mavis. Eva is a great role!

Break a leg.

Open your mouth and make it come from the belly. Imagine Jason or someone is chasing you with a chainsaw and at the moment you need to scream, you can swear the teeth of the saw are scraping your ear.
