Of course.
Your life.
But it may make it harder for when your baby grows older. When your baby is about 5-years-old and is learning to spell his/her name, if their name is "Elyzzabethe" (Elizabeth) it will make it difficult for them to remember their name or remember how to spell it.
Try something simple (like someone said before me). Amy -> Aimee, Crystal -> Krystal, Jason -> Jayson...
And as the first person said, yeah... it sort of looks like you have a spelling problem.
Always ask for a hundredth opinion ;)
Better to be safe than sorry, especially when you're talking about something as important as the name your baby will have for the rest of their life!

Good question! Changing a spelling doesn't make your child any different or special. It just creates problems for the child, basically spelling his/her name out to everyone forever. To tell you the truth, it looks trashy and uneducated. I think people do this to their children because they themselves do not feel very special or unique. They love a common name but then do to their own emotional baggage they feel if they don't spice it up then their own child (which they will live through) will not be important or special either. If that isn't the case than more than likely the parent/parents thought it looked the coolest. Or perhaps they really didn't know how to spell the name correctly. In that case it's just stupidity.

I agree...
It's "ok" ...but it's lame. lol sorry
If you spell it different cause it's in a different language or something ...then ok...but just to go and tweak it...will look more like a misspelling than anything.

Your child will spend it's whole life telling people how to spell his name. Trust me my name is Jodie and know one can ever spell it right. They allways say is that with a "Y" or and "I' and I have to say no, "ie". Then they still don't listen and spell it wrong.

As long as you don't go overboard with it and change every other letter.
Jessica - Jehsykah... that's just stupid, but simple things like Aimee or Krystle - Bryan or Jaysin are names I like.

No, it just makes it sound as if you or your child doesn't know how to spell properly.
