my horse in 22 years old and she has heaves. she is the sweetest dear and her heaves are manageable. she just can't trot for very long w/o starting to cough. I can't take care of her as well as i used to be able to and would like to find a good home for her. any other suggestions are greatly appreciated

If she's the type of mare who likes human company then that could be a perfect retirement for her. Most of those kids can't do more than a slow walk anyways and she would still feel useful. If she's the type of mare who is crabby with strangers then it wouldn't be such a good idea :) but since you said she sweet then she'd probly like it.
good luck in finding her a home.

Yes, they probably could find a use for her. She could probably help an autistic child or something.

Her days are almost done...she needs a retirement home not a work camp! I hope when I get old and wheezey that you won't send me to a work camp to be worked to death...let me go in peace.

I think that's a good idea, or maybe go to your local SPCA and see if they have any ideas.
