It's never about the syntax. The syntax is your last problem. It's about how much of the technology / platform you know.

You know syntax is not enough lonely to fine a programming job.
First of all you should inxrease your proffesional knowledg.
For example learn more about your platform or favorite programming language in different operating systems.
Then you should have enough cover on them,I mean you should konw enough of the language.
Experience acts the most important role in programming.
You should get enough experience.
Just go ahead and do not lose your passion.

You know enough syntax when you can get a *useful* program to run without error.

WELL... I'm a HTML/JavaScript and C++ Programmer... But every day I learn new things... But I guess if you can fix other people's bugged up programs over 60% of the time, you can call yourself a programmer.

There is another way though: Get a master's degree in programming.

When you know enough to write programs that achieve something and that would impress a future employer.

If you're at a College, impress one of your teachers. If not, try to get your efforts in front of someone you would look up to as a programmer and who would give you an honest opinion.
