I have been operating a large rental community in Illinois for a couple of years. I handle all tenant relations and rent collections, and all aspects of management for the property. I am not officially an owner of the property, tax-wise, but it is owned by family. If I do need to obtain one, how do i do so without having a broker to sponsor me?

If you have been acting in good faith as an employee of the person, group or company owning the property you typically do not need any licenses.

You may have been breaking the law. Check with the Real Estate Commission in your state. If you have been acting as a broker and calling yourself that it could be a felony.
