When he bits I tell him no, but he laughs and thinks it funny. I'm not laughing. I'm afraid that once he starts pre school he may bit others. I DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!!!

I know this to have worked for quite a many people, honestly 5 off hand. Sounds mean, but it works--NO NOT slapping him! Bite him back. When he bites you next, bit ehim back! He will then associate what he is doing. How it feels!

BITE HIM BACK

Give him a time out.

Slapping may work for some kids but others copy what their parents do and then you may have complaints about your child's biting AND hitting.

Whenever he bites someone, put him in solitary for about five to ten minutes. Kids usually hate being alone so they should learn their lesson. Or you can have him kneel on the ground, without any support nearby, with his arms in the air for a few minutes. This is really REALLY tiring. Trust me, I know. My mom did this to me when I was six for drawing all over the walls of my newly painted house and I learned my lesson after two of those!

i would give him a firm slap across the cheek with a NO BITE. It sounds mean, I know but kids that age don't do abstract punishments. I know this works with even younger, because once I was breast feeding at 6 monhts old. She bit me and I just slapped her! i didn't mean to, it was just a relflex. Right on the face I said OUCH and gave her face a firm slap. I didn't mean to, it just happened and she never bit again and I breatfeed for 7 more months. That age is really 'cause and effect' orientated.

Press his arm against his upper teeth just enough so that he can experience how it feels when he bites others.

This is a tip I got from mamasource, check it out, it's an awesome community for moms!

Hope this helps!

My youngest was a biter and we tried everything. She bit me one too many times and I bit her back (not hard) but she never bit again.
