We're going to visit Belgium en route to Italy at the end of this month. I've heard that car seats are mandatory for children 12 and under. Is this really enforced? The children in my family are taller than average; would we still have to put a 5-foot 11 year old in a car seat?

when they are less then 18 years and smaller then 1.35 m it is mandatory to use a system that is appropriated to there age and size. But even when there taller they have to wear they seat belts at all time also in the back

you can also send a mail to the embassy of Belgium in you re country for more explanations I think they will be able to give the necessary explanations
