There is no turtle without a shell. The shell is part of his bones so a turtle without a shell would be dead. it is not like a hermit crab where when they don't have a shell they're thought of as naked. They cannot live without a shell and you cannot remove the shell unless the turtle is dead. The shell as I said before is part of his body and he can't switch from shell to shell.

Actually, it would be dead. Turtles tuck themselves into the shell to protect themselves from predators. To give your question a specific answer, would be homeless. Anyway, a turtle's shell is part of its anatomy. Without the shell it would not live.

Most likely it would be both, unless he has boxers under that shell. The question is now, what kinda boxers does he have on?

He is a target to be eaten by his mother or other creatures in his pond--no shell means no life or future.
