Never been married, I met my fiance on a blind date 15 years ago and were very happy. We'll get married someday but we're in no rush. Most of our friends have been married and divorced and remarried and so on. Marriage really changes some people for the worse and some for the better. Were content just the way things are right now. We have no kids and we have alot of free time to spend together, and we're totally commited to eachother for life. We don't need a piece of paper to make us happy or to prove that we love eachother. Some people think were nuts for not being married because of how long we've been together, but it's our life and it's just great the way it is.

You can be married for life. Just make sure you know your mate WELL before getting married and if there are things you don't like/don't think you can live with then don't marry them. A lot of people their their other will change when they get married but that's not true!!! There is a great book called something like 500 questions you should ask before getting married. My husband and I got that and had a great time with it especailly on car trips. Also, I think people take divorce as an easy way out these days. Know that marriage is tough but after the bad times come really really good time!!! Remember its for better or worse!!!

I am 43. Married at 30, divorced at 31, no kids. Married 34, divorced 40, three kids including the one of hers I adopted. Both marriages were doomed because they didn't have time to gel. I am retired military and feel that pressured environment ruined the first one, and contributed to the second.

I wish I could say I had been married once like my 77 & 72 year old parents. The old school mentality was to work things out and not run at the first sign of danger like it seems today's couples do. Good luck.

I have been married twice. the first lasted 7 years the second 10. Older people stay married for several reasons. they were raised in a different time, they dont believe in divorce. the women are usually very submissive, meaning the man is the boss and she is the maid, another form of a house wife. But it is possible to find the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. my sister is on 26 years and my brother just made 31...

I have never been married. Have been asked three times, always said no. I too admire people that are married and are happy and have the resolution to stick together through thick and thin.

I just feel that if things go so badly wrong that it hurts your heart, mind, body or soul to stay, then you should be able to just walk away...without all the legal hell. I hope this doesn't make me appear fickle. I have never had a relationship that has lasted less than nine years!

Been married for 1st time - 12 years, still married. Work very hard to stay married.
Do think that the older generation have a different perception of marriage, "in their day" it was for life and was a case of "making your bed and having to lie in it". Whereas, nowadays it's too easy to get out of it.
Don't get me wrong if it's a violent relationship then there should be options......

I have married twice, to the same Lady. First time it lasted about
15 years. Then I went out on a limb giving her a rose when she dropped the kids off. Things went from there, we remarried on
the original wedding date 7-29 and have been happy ever since.

BTW The first time I was married it was for 12 years & this time it's 5.5 years & going strong........if anything goes wrong this time that we really can't deal with....I'll not be getting married again....mind you I said that the last time......not because I don't like to be married but because....hell! I'm not going for some record....
