I just got off the pill last month. My husband and I are trying to conceive...how will I know when I start ovulating again? I know it can take a few months to start ovulating again, but I also know you can start ovulating right away....any way to know for sure?

Chart your cycles. Use your basal body temperature, cervical position and texture, and cervical mucous, and that can tell you more about what your body is doing and when you're ovulating. You can learn more about charting from the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, or the website fertilityfriend.com. You may also want to use ovulation predictor kits, which use a hormone present in your urine to tell you when you ovulate.

I would start using an ovulation predictor kit. It takes some women months to start ovulating and others start right away. My best friend actually got pregnant while on the pill. So you just never know compared to others experiences what will happen to you. You can also chart your temperatures. There's an excellent book out called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler that helps talk you through all of the signs to help you determine when and if you are ovulating. Good luck to you!!

you never stopped ovulating. your body just created a thicker mucus so that the sperm could not pass through.

some it takes a few cycles until you are back to "normal" others, it happens right away.

Everyone is different. Just start trying and see what happens.
