I can't take the pill bc of my blood pressure, not ready to have my tubes tied, not wild about having an IUD in me.

Pro - no taking pills, remembering to put on a patch or put in the ring!

Con - I gained a couple lbs.

I just started using depo and i have used just about every other form of bc there is except IUD(wasn't to keen on that) so far I seem to like this the best. I only have to get it every 3 months, it takes 5 mins to get it done. I have only been on it a month, so maybe my opinion will change but for now I like it.

The pros not having to remember take a pill everyday and not having a period until sometime after you decide to quit taking the shot. The cons gaining weight. I was on the shot for 7 years and I went from a size 5 and by the time I got off the shot I was a size 14 and fatigued from all the weight I gained. Once I got off the shot I dropped the weight in no time.

I had the depo shot my senior year in high school. My doctor thought i had endometriosis and so I went ahead and did the shot. It was nice at first not having my period for four months but when it came back it was the most terrible thing ever. Not to sound gross but it was more of a blob of what looked like lining instead of blood and i had severe cramps. Maybe my experience was just abnormal though.

I know of one Con - it messed with my hormones and made me practically homicidal towards men and over protective of women friends. I almost killed 2 different guys and broke one guys arm in the first month after I got the shot. Weird, but the doc said this happens sometimes. Same happened when my sister got the shot.

BTW - I am totally normal and mentally stable. This was definitely hormone induced psycho behavior.

Oh yeah - and I had a period for 2 months! No wonder I was crazy!

I didn't really have any pros with the depo shot. On my second shot I had an allergic reaction and I had to wait 3 months for it to wear off...and then when I did try and get pregnant after...I found that the depo shot had stopped my body from ovulating, and I had to take clomid to get pregnant. I have absolutely no pros for teh shot.
