I can't tell you any history, but these days horoscopes are often used for scamming people. They make you pay for what you want to hear, and what is said in a horoscope can often be used to describe anyone, no matter what star-sign. I suggest you don't involve yourself with them. Most the time, because they are so general about everything you'll see what they say happen! Most people will beleive they have 'made a new friend' as said by their horoscope if they simply say hello to someone new...
Advice: Leave the horoscopes to people who don't beleive what i just said.
P.S good luck if your gonna get involved with them...

Deuteronomy (18:10,11)
"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his duaghter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer."
Astrology, channeling, ouijaboards, predicting the future, and much else is forbidden. The author of Deuteronomy does not argue that such practices fail to deliver what they promise. But they are "abominations" -- perhaps suitible for other nations, but not for the followers of God.
Carl Sagan "The Demon Haunted World"

Why blindly "believe" when it is better to know? We all have access to the same internet. Search for independent testing. The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) offers a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."
To date, no one has ever passed the preliminary tests.

The first answer is a total and complete dumbass! (no offense!). I do believe in the zodiac signs... but to a certain extent. I don't read my horoscopes every day and stuff like that... they are fun to read... but i don't take any of it seriously. What i do believe about the zodiac signs is the different personalities that different signs tend to have. I've looked up most of the signs to match up my friends... and its so weird... they always end up being like their sign! I am totally like my sign too... I'm an Aries. I also believe in the Chinese zodiac... its a little different from the normal zodiac. Palm readings... now those i do not believe in. I think that its some person that claims to be "psychic", grabs your hand, looks at it, and makes up some kind of bullshit. Star signs... yes i SORT of believe in that stuff. But the one i believe in MOST are the zodiac signs. Call me crazy.. but the zodiac signs almost ALWAYS seem to match the person.
And... you shouldn't feel paranoid. Whether you believe in the stuff or not... you are still normal. Don't let people tell you what you gotta believe in or not.
By the way, first answerer... Where the hell in the bible does it say, "Thou shall not read zodiac books nor believe in them." ????
EDIT! Also... if you take it too seriously... then yes. You can end up getting paranoid. Don't stress out to be just like your sign. You are either like your sign or not. That's why i was saying almost always people tend to be like their sign.
ANYWAYS... hope i helped... have fun with ur horoscopes!

No. the only reason people believe in horoscopes, is because they read them and then its just the way people interpret them. Plus, many horoscopes are about love lifes. Not all people have love lifes. Small children are generally do not have the "intamite relations" that many horoscopes predict.

You're not the only one paranoid... well, wary would be a better way of putting it. It's good to be wary about such things cos there's con artists around using those to wrong ends.
But to say I 'believe' in astrology is a big word. I don't have faith in it; I just know that the study of it is close to correct, when given in the right hands and I treat it like a science. So I can't say I 'believe' in it.

There're so many different horoscopes, some are so general, and the rest are so untrue. I think that horoscopes are just there for people w/o confidence & security in emselves, prolly reading it outta pure leisure. Personally, i do not believe in horoscopes.

Star signs, yes and no...sometimes I can get really into them and I make sure that I read them everyday and then after a while I think that this is silly, especially when they don't say good things and stop reading them

i think celebrity signs and indicators do provide some style of indication at certainly one of those character somebody could have. hoping on a capturing celebrity i think of is slightly fairy tale although, yet a capturing celebrity in itself is sufficient to convice me that there is something greater accessible and that there is a purpose and motives for existance. complete moon is what we see whilst the Earth is turned around in a particular way, the excellent moon is often there, we in simple terms see it on some days and don't on others, uncertain you are able to choose on it the two. terrific just to comprehend that God created all, and we could desire to continuously ask from God what we'd like.

Honestly no I don't believe in horoscopes but I find them fun to read. If something is meant to happen it will no matter what the stars say.
