namely Ian Beale. The way Darren is now is very similar to Ian Beale when he was younger. For those old enough to remember Ian Beale was always coming up with ventures to make money quick!! Just like Darren!! And they are both very annoying and don't give a damn about anyone but themselves, and their next plan to make a quick buck!!

Darren is better though!! Although annoying at times, not as annoying as a young (and now) Ian Beale!!

I was saying the exact same thing the other week! Maybe thats what they are working towards, another longterm character, Ian was cheeky and ambitious when he was younger, it wasn't until he was much older that he became Beale the squeal

Yeah he does but you have to remember that Darren used to work for Ian so maybe he picked up a few of Ian's annoying qualities.
