so here we go with the answer from a carphonewarehouse employee.first of all its an 18 month contract.ur phone line will be taken over.its an amazing service for international calls for free but its bit hactic for ur broadband to be honest.ur phone line will be activated witrhin 2-3 weeks time.after that u'll be waiting for ur broadband for almost 6-8 weeks and could be testing ur own patience.better way is to stick with BT basic line rental which is £11 and get tiscali which is £15 for 8 mb bb and unlimited whereas with talk talk u get fairly huge amount of d/laod but by the end of the day unlimited is unlimited.

Switching to another provider because your area has a slow internet speed will Not improve by changing providers because other Internet Service Providers will still be using the same BT Exchange and telephone wire connected to your house. Yes Talk Talk may be offering you a lower price but your connection speed will be the same, however Talk Talk customer service is really, really bad (they don't win or come runner-up in the Wooden Spoon awards every year for nothing) so avoid them like the plague. Remember that you will be 'stuck' with Talk Talk for an 18 month contract is it worth the hassle for the worse service in the industry.

Hello smurf......first let me say..listen to your concious and not your friend's or he might get you involved with his problems. Stick to BT Broadband for a while longer. The line rental is fair but why your bill is £80 is because you do a awful lot of chatting.

Hi. A few years ago, the telecommunications industry in the UK was deregulated to allow other companies to compete with BT, in what is known as 'Real Equality Of Access', effectively ending its monopoly.
The vast majority of BT customers are only with BT because they have always been, and so are not open to trying out new companies, and are sceptical of the many companies who try to sell them their telecoms products. They tend to be fairly satisfied with BT, and so have never really looked into the other options available to them. (BT has the advantage of previously being the only telecoms company in the UK - For many years, customers had no choice!) This blind loyalty allows BT to continue charging the extortionate rates it does, even since the changes in the telecoms industry.
Companies such as TalkTalk rent lines wholesale, or 'in bulk' so to speak, from BT which allows them to charge cheaper rates for line rental. (I believe it's £9.99 a month instead of £10.50). One of the main things that customers are unaware of is that the line REMAINS A BT LINE, so if there is a problem with it, it would still be a BT engineer who comes out to fix it. In other words, that side of the service would remain identical, only you would be paying less money, and the name at the top of your bill would be 'TalkTalk' instead of 'BT'.
The other side of the matter is the call charges. As I said above, with the number of customers with unwavering faith in their company, BT has no reason to charge less than they currently are. Whereas competing companies need to give their customers an advantage over staying with BT, in order to get them to consider switching companies. Hence the cheaper call rates (UK landline, mobile rates and international calls as well). Since then, TalkTalk has also introduced Broadband internet, again at a cheaper rate than BT.
To sum up, BT has millions of customers who have been with them for years, and can think of no reason why they should switch. This allows BT to continue charging high rates for calls, line rental and internet - they are aware that they still have the greater proportion of customers in the UK compared to their competitors, so won't be losing huge amounts of money to them.
Other companies such as TalkTalk (one of the best competitors by far in my opinion) are now able to charge cheaper line rental, cheaper call charges and cheaper broadband rates (since the deregulation of the industry a number of years ago).
To answer the other question, yes, you will still be able to use Yahoo answers and all your other sites with TalkTalk as it provides the same service as BT, just at a lower price!
I hope I helped somewhat!

Dont talk so much on the phone lol.
Phone them ask what deals they have that will suit you more, BT has all sorts of deals, you might pay an extra £5 on line rental but you get unlimited talk.
Phone talk talk and then compare whats best for you.

I have had TalkTalk since last June - no installation problems and no problems since (apart from a couple of days of e-mail availability issues which they knew about and fixed quickly).
I would recommend them.

i don't know, i heard that they couldn't supply their demands, so therfore i would say no. but i don't have broadband so i wouldn't know.. it really depends if they are aboe to do it in your area. as for ntl and telewest, virgin could b taking them over like they took over some other cable company therefore getting rid of their sky.
if in doubt join someone else, tiscali, toucan all offer deals with landlines.

Try Tiscali. It's quick to connect and they provide a good service. I'm told (I stress this) that Talk, Talk takes months. Unless, of course, someone knows better!
