yep!!! i use mirena, perfectly safe. talk to your doctor about it first, if you are right for it then it is safe, but only your doctor can decide if you are right for you.

I will say yes, but with reservations.
You cannot use Mirena if you have had blood clots, severe depression, severe liver disease, or heart attack.
You cannot use paragard (the copper IUD) if you are allergic to copper.
You cannot use either Mirena or Paragard if your uterus is severely tilted, scarred, if you have endometriosis, or if you have or have had pelvic inflammatory disease.
If you do not suffer from any of the above, it is perfectly safe to use an IUD. You really need to get your annual exam when you have an IUD in place, and you need to check for the string to make sure everything is ok.
I would really endorse IUDs- it does not affect your fertility, it's very reliable, and it's very cost-efficient in the long run. I have had an IUD for 3 years now (the copper one). The insertion really hurt, but I have not had any problems ever since.
