yea it does sound crazy but they do have a time allowed for c-sections and they have all of that figured in already,so its just their cheesey way of making more money from you. They charge for every little gauze also so they will hit you up for that also. The Dr that just done my surgery on 02-06-07( for a ectopic after a reversal) just cut through my old scare and when he stapled me back shut you can not even tell i was cut before it just looks as though this was the only surgery.would this be something that your doctor could do and refund your money for the other.I never ask me Dr to or nothing he just told me as he was releasing me that when my badages came off to look at my insission, that was his standard practice to only leave the newest scare.hope this helps and best wishes

i work in the billing department for a medical office, and i can understand the charge for the scar revision, however the hospital trying to charge you extra doesn't sound right especially if its a quick procedure. when the hospital calls you back ask them for the procedure codes (or cpt codes) they intend to charge. then call your insurance company with these codes and make sure the hospital is allowed to bill these codes. if your insurance says they can't, then have them call the hospital on your behalf. if the hospital participates with that particular insurance they have to follow the guidelines set in their contract. also make sure your insurance will cover it if the hospital can charge you and that you don't need to have it authorized by your insurance. the last thing you want is to end up with a bill. good luck!

Noone can tell how long you are going to be in a room. Some woman are in a room for days waiting to deliver and some are in a few hours. I would check with your insurance and see if you are getting ripped because in the long run, the insurance is being charged with all those odd charges. I would double check that!

the hospital will charge you for whatever they can. so if you are having anything done that is "out of the norm" for the hospital, they are going to charge you for it. i would ask for a detailed bill after the baby is born. i was going through my bill from my son who is 16 months old and they charge me $2.50 for pain killers 6 times and i only took 1. that and there were a bunch of other bunk charges on there too.

They probably can get away with charging you for the extra time but it seems that if the insurance company is already paying for the room you really shouldn't have to pay that much extra.

does sound strange but there's nothing you can do about it really, between the hospital & insurance company, you will get screwed somehow

Does sound crazy. I had my tubes ties after mine and they didn't charge me. My doctor didn't even charge me.
