Do you admire people who flaunt their wealth (flashy celebutantes and Hollywood gliteratti) more than people who help our society while earning low or no pay (teachers, volunteers)? According to what I heard on the news, the rich are getting richer while the poor getting poorer (the middle class is quickly joining the ranks of the working poor). Has anyone else noticed how the rich are gettting more flashy with their wealth ala Celebutante Paris Hilton and the Hollywood Gliteratti? A lot of Hip Hop imagery in videos also glorifies "bling bling". Do you think TV shows and networks that glorify wealth over substance are OK viewing for kids (Entertainment Tonight)? Are you more impressed by the rich person driving a Bentley than the schoolteacher down the street? Would you rather have affordable health care for all or would you rather support a system that only benefits the wealthy? Is it OK to limit kids' career aspirations to becoming singers and basketball players?

I honestly think that these shows aren't appropriate viewing for ANYONE. I've noticed a suspicious correlation between these shows that tell you how much these celebrities spend on their shoes and the explosion with normal women carrying around 1200 dollar designer bags. I kid you not, when I worked in a grocery store I would have multiple customers pull food stamps out of their Coach bags. WTF? And since this fixation on *glam* celebrity and hip hop cultures the average American's savings has gone down to...ready for it? ZERO. That means there's a WHOLE lot of really in debt people that offset all the millionaires and billionaires in this country.

Rich doesn't impress me at all. However, Mother Teresa did. If people would focus on what's important instead of the temporary such as celebrities, Hollywood, etc., there wouldn't be any bling-bling. I don't know of any celebrity that is a role model for kids and I don't think they need to be exposed to the junk in their lives. My idea of entertainment is "Little House on the Prairie," "The Waltons," "I Love Lucy," and a lot of the oldie but goodie movies and shows. As for videos, my family is not allowed to watch any of them.

I am more impressed by thump thump than by bling bling.
I think it is alright for kids to watch a limited amount of bling bling, on the condition that a caring adult is with them to ask them some thought provoking questions, like the one you just asked. It's good for kids to learn to think early on. Over-protecting will not help them. Over-exposure won't either though.

I just prefer big t*ts and a tight @ss!!!!

Keep in most basketball players would have a "job" cleaning windshields w/ a squeegee and a dirty rag at the entrance to the tunnel, if they did not posses that "wonderful gift" of putting a rubber ball in a basket!! And how quickly they forget this........ Same goes for these dumb-@ss rappers...........

I despise people that flaunt their wealth. Nothing irks me more about people. So definitely, I prefer the kind hearted people, rather than people who will try to act like they are better than you because they have lots of money.
