Whoa! Don't get ahead of yourself now, the hamster may cost $5 but where are you going to put him, are you gonna let him have the run of the house? You've got to think here, a cage for a hamster costs about $20, then you have to buy him chips for his cage, food, a water bottle, and chew sticks so he won't chew his way out of his cage. If you already have all this stuff then you can see if you can do some chores around the house for your parents and make some money, also you can look under the cushions on your couch, and under it as well. Also if your parents OK it you can look in there car, someone might have dropped a few coins on the ground. Depending on where you live you can see if your neighbor needs there driveway shoveled. Good luck and best wishes to ya!

Their are lots of ways to make $5 quickly. You can always ask your parents but if they say no you can do a lot of things like work around the house to get money from your parents or have a bake sale or wash a neighbor's car. You can also see if any one needs babysitting and watch over their kid for a little while.

If you live somewhere snowy, you could shovel your neighbor's front walks for a couple of bucks. Just explain to them you are trying to buy a hampster.

If there is snow on the ground where you are, you could shovel walks.
If you are old enough, you could babysit.
If you don't have snow, and aren't old enough to babysit, perhaps the pet store would consider barter ... you could clean the hamster cage or something.
PS - what are you going to feed it, and what are you going to keep it in ... sounds like you need a bit more than $5 to me.

That is easy, for instance you could babysit some local kids, or you could cut some neighbor's grass, or shovel sidewalks, lots of ways you can earn money.......or think of something you enjoy doing and find people that like it and do that

Yard work for neighbors
Grocery pick up for some one elderly or other chores they need done
Dog walking for neighbors
Also, your new hamster will need a cage - a running wheel - water dish - food dish - etc.
Good Luck! Let us know when you get him and what you named him.

A lemonade stand is always a good way to go. People always buy stuff from kids even if they don't plan to drink it themselves. And hamster doesn't have a P.
