Like others have said, he was an American comedian best remembered by many for his children's show (which started airing in the 50s), The Soupy Sales Show. But he's also remembered for a particular incident with that show, on New Year's in 1965, when, pissed off about having to work that day he told the kids (viewers) to tiptoe into their parents' bedrooms, take those little green pieces of paper from their wallets, and mail them to Soupy. In return, Soupy said, he'd send them postcards from Puerto Rico. Apparently, Soupy received only a few bucks (and a suspension), but the incident created a huge stir at the time.

Soupy Sales was a comedian in the early 70's. He had a show on network TV. At times he was quite "racy" for the 70's.
