Thanks for the answers so far.

The reason I asked is that I was reading a lot of answers with people saying things like, "I saw a sweater for $2500 at Neiman Marcus and then saw the exact same one at Forever 21 for $20." I wanted outside insight as to why people were lead to believe this was true. All in all there's a lot of hatred for people who spend money without much thought as to why apart from "They think they're better than us" or "They're stupid sheep who buy what people wear on tv."

Ummm, they don't? That's ridiculous! Target and Wal-Mart's quality and styles are much further beneath that of Neiman Marcus and other high-end stores.

Because they obviously know nothing about the industry and are trying to seem like they do. Target and Wal Mart sell clothes which are made by the same design teams as some of the designers from more expensive stores but it is by no means the same product or quality. And as far as the desinger things you see at stores like Ross or Marshalls it is because the producer of the product made too many and didn't sell them to their regular clients (stores) or they are the styles of the same season but last year or the year before that weren't sold in the higher end stores, or they are defective (not sewn right, wrong sizing etc)

Some people don't think the clothes they sell are worth the price at high end stores. Thats NOT to say that Wal Mart has the same clothes, the DO however have better bargains for peopl who want to dress nice & are on a budget.

Basically they are all the same. No one will see that tag anyway. Why spend that extra money on something no one is even going to notice. As far as quality? Who cares because the styles run out quick anyway so quality shouldn't even matter. I actually don't like Target though.

WHO CARES! No one actually goes into your shirt to look at the tag. Money can be spent in something much more important.
