HUD is the wrong one to ask. Contact your county. Is the father in the picture to help pay bills? Why not?

And why are you looking to the government to solve your problems. OTOH, if your grammar and spelling skills are an example of your education level, then get a job at a convenience store, clean up, learn to write and communicate well and then work your way up.

I don't think HUD is the agency you're looking for. For energy help, call your utility provider and find out if you qualify for HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program). Then you need to contact your local Public Assistance agency and see if there are programs available to help you with your rent and other expenses. In most states, a single parent on limited income would qualify for public assistance. Good luck.

NOTE TO SUSANCNW: Your answer exhibits a self-righteous, ,judgmental attitude. You should be ashamed of yourself. Thank God that people like you represent the minority.

Well, I'm in about the same situation. I have a 7 year old boy, and a 3 month old daughter. 25 Year Old Single mom. Due to circumstance, I'm not with the dad. My suggestions ...
1. Get Child Support - contact your local office
2. Get an Education - take home classes if you have to
3. Get a Job and keep it - if it's a sucky job, stay there and you're bound to move up eventually.

If that doesn't work ....
4. Get a Second Job
5. Get a Third Job

Try welfare, and also the utility company. I know where I live the utility company has a program to help those that can't pay.
Though, I can't help but think - Why do people have kids that can't afford them.
