My Daughter is 16 & currently doing a Health & Social Care course at school & is due to go on to College to study medicine-based courses. As part of this she needs work experience in some sort of care environment-Does anyone know what kind of care-involved work she can do at 16? Thanks.

she's 16 - she can work almost anywhere!
i started off in care work at 16 when i left school, now at 26 i have a family and my own business, everything seem to have come together this past few years!
i'd suggest that she do work experience in a few different settings, ie hospital and private care, young and elderly etc so that she starts to get an idea of what she likes and what she doesn't!

Convalescent centers (nursing homes) are ALWAYS looking for volunteers to come and help out. Don't let your daughter get freaked out by it, she won't be changing bed pans or wiping drool or anything like that. Mostly they just need/want people to spend time with the elderly people living there. It's a lonely life, esp. when their family members only come every so often or never at all so just having someone play checkers with them or watch Jeopardy with them makes their day and they really appreciate it.

Well, she could work in a hospital helping the nurses caring for them, or she can do some work experience in a pharmacist or dentist or something, as any type of medical work is care.

She can volunteer at a nursing home, or depending on what her course of study is you can look on the United Way website and click on local organizations in your area where she can work or volunteer.
