If you want to know the sex, then have it around 19-22 weeks. Before that, it's going to look a little strange. Later in your pregnancy the baby is going to get squished and it will be harder to see its features.

The office at which I'm having mine done suggested no earlier than 26 weeks and no later than 34 weeks. Any earlier and you can't really see all of the facial details, and any later and the baby is too big to move around. I'm having mine done at 31 weeks. I'm 28 weeks right now and I can't wait for my appointment!

You can get it early around 12 weeks depending on where you go. The standard is usually 16 weeks at the earliest and they can tell the sex then too if the baby cooperates.

My doc usually likes to do them between 18-22 weeks, you can see the baby's development very well since there's still space in your uterus. I had mine at 32 weeks and it was very hard to get good pictures because of the way she was crammed in there.

i would say that you "can" have it done at any time, but i would wait until later in the pregnancy so you can really see what your baby is going to look like upon birth, not looking like an alien.
