Two days ago, I started experiencing some horribly painful abdominal cramping and the next time I went to the bathroom I noticed a significant amount of brown mucus discharge from the vagainal area? It's not a period cause I just got over mine 18 days ago. I am 22 years old with 2 small children. I didn't know if it could be a part of having children but that was 19 months ago. I am not sexually active and havent been in over a year now. It just scared me when I noticed a BROWN mucusie discharge from my vaginal area? If anyone knows what this could possibly be, please let me know as soon as possible. It is horribly painful. Thanks Alot!!!

This sounds like some mid-cycle bleeding. This can happen to some women. It is brown because the blood is old. Are you under more stress than usual? If this persists or the pain doesn't go away, you should see a doctor. I'm a nurse and worked womens health. Good luck.

Ovulation can cause some spotting, which can appear as brown (old blood),
